Pastor’s Corner: A New Year; A New Beginning

Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The Lord has provided another year for you and I to live. Because life is fragile, we acknowledge the privilege we have to live life another year. The question is…….”How will we live this life this year?” We will live our life one of two ways. Perhaps, some will follow the way of the world. This relates to walking in the counsel of the ungodly and standing in the way (pathway) of sinners. Those who follow this life way will find the way is hard and difficult as they walk against the Lord. They will look for ways to ease their life. Pleasure, comfort, power, and greed will occupy their thoughts continually but they will only find heartache. On the other hand, there are those who will choose the way of the godly. These will delight in the Law of the Lord. They will meditate in His Word day and night and find peace and contentment in their soul and with their creator. The person who follows the way of God will find blessing and favor with God in all that they do.

It is our goal at Cross and Crown to walk in the ways of God and honor Him in all that we do. As you start the new year, consider which way you will go. Do you want the blessing of God, or will you continue to walk contrary to God’s way and His Word and experience the heartache that follows.
